House, formerly public house, 1738, altered. Painted squared rubble
sandstone with flush quoins. Kerridge stone-slate roof. 2 storeys, 2
windows extended right to 3. Near-flush small-pane casements.
Boarded door. Stone gable chimneys and ridge chimneys. Incised sign
with Eagle carrying Child in swaddling clothes above JS. 1738. The
Tithe Award Schedule (1849) describes the building as Eagle and Child
Inn.
