7/22 Lawton Mere Cottage

14/2/1967 II

House. C17 with C19 additions and alterations. Timber framed with
rendered infill and Flemish bond brick with a plain tile roof. Two
storeys. Entrance front: 3 bays, the 2 at right being of C17 date
and having a roof more steeply pitched than the bay at left which is
an early/mid C19 addition. To the right are two bays symmetrically
disposed with a central doorway to the ground floor and at either side
3-light C20 casement windows. To the first floor are two C20 2-light
casement windows with flat lintels. At left of this the ground and
first floor windows are of 3 lights. Ridge chimney stacks to right of
centre and to extreme left. The right hand gable-end has a ground
plate and irregular small-framing with an angle brace at right. The
gable is slightly jettied and has an ovolo-moulded bressumer with a
queen-post truss and V-strut to the gable. To right of this is a C18
lean-to outshut which has timber framing to its half-gable.
Interior: Ovolo-moulded ceiling beams to the ground floor and an
ingle-nook fireplace with cambered bressumer.
