Farmhouse. Late C17. Red Flemish bond brick with a plain tile roof.
Three storeys. Entrance front: three bays symmetrically disposed
with lateral 3-light camber-headed casement windows to the ground and
first floors and similar lateral windows with flat lintels to the
second floor. Central doorway to ground floor with C20 gabled porch
before. Blank rectangular panels to the first and second floors, that
at first floor level having a cambered head. Dividing the floors are
projecting bands supported by alternately projecting headers and there
is a cogged band to the eaves. C20 plain tile roof. Gabled stacks to
either side. The right hand side has a central ribbon staircase
window extending from the ground to the second floor and at right of
this is a doorway and camber-headed 3-light windows to each of the
floors. The left hand side has a C19 lean-to cheese room to the
ground floor with cheese oven. The rear has an outshut to ground
floor left and at right a single bay with 3-light casements to the
ground, first and second floors.
Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams to all floors. Close string
staircase of 4 flights with rectangular newels having domed tops and
beaded corners. Moulded handrail and splat balusters with straight
sides and beaded corners. Four-plank doors to each landing with strap
hinges.
