Farmhouse. C17 with later addition. Timber framed with rendered
infill, now completely covered in render to the exterior; slate roof.
The entrance front has a stone plinth common to the whole building.
Gabled wing at left with a half-glazed doorway to the ground floor
with single-light casements to each side. Above this at first floor
level is a 3-light casement window. At right of this is a later wing
which is slightly recessed and has two 4-light C20 windows. Brick
chimney stack slightly to right of centre. The left-hand side has 2
ground floor windows, that at right of 6 lights, that at left of 4
lights with a king mullion to its centre. Both windows have stone
sills. The right-hand end has a 1/2 glazed doorway at right with
single-light windows to either side and a 2-light window at left and
two 2-light casements to the first floor. A ground floor wing
projects at right of this. The rear has a projecting gabled wing to
left.
Interior: Small-framed walling on chamfered sandstone plinth to the
ground floor with ovolo-moulded ceiling beams which die via stepped
and ogee end-stops. To the drawing room is a massive brick chimney
breast with a lintel of ashlar. A staircase of C18 or early C19 date
has been brought from elsewhere. The first floor has exposed
small-framing and angle braces to rooms in the older portion; the low
positioning of the angle braces shows that the wall height has been
raised.
