6/15 Churchfield Farmhouse
II*
Farmhouse, early C17 with early C19 alterations, now dwelling. Red
brick with tile roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, gabled. Originally "L" plan
but later rear wing added. Projecting front porch with stilted
cambered lintel with label, and pitched roof with coping and kneelers.
The porch contains a four panel door, with gothic tops to upper
panels, in an ovolo moulded dowelled frame. Three-light casements
with glazing bars, those at ground floor and first floor in gable with
labels.
Interior: Four deeply bevelled beams framed together to form a ceiling
of nine panels. Inglenook. Ovolo moulded and bevelled beams. Timber
framing showing in internal walls. Jointed cruck and queen post
trusses. Ledged and battened and six panel doors. East of the
farmhouse there is a barn (not listable) with C17 collar and strutted
trusses. This supports the date of the farmhouse.
