7/7 Barn at Woodhouse Farm

Barn, now storage. C16 or C17. Timber framed with brick infill and
brick with a plain tile roof. Two storeys, originally single storey.
Road front: deep plinth of C19 or C20 brick with breather slits.
Timber framed upper structure has close studding with middle rail and
7 passing tension braces which rise from the ground sill almost to the
wall plate. There is a cart doorway to the far right (now blocked)
and a similar doorway to the right of centre (also blocked). To the
left and right hand ends are C19 additions of brick. Rear: similar
deep brick plinth here with C20 metal framed windows below close
studded upper body with brick infill 7 passing tension braces as
before and cart doors at left and left of centre, both now blocked.
Interior: C19 floor inserted. Jowelled posts supporting 6 trusses
with angle braces and two original gable trusses with queen posts.
Chamfered purlins and renewed laths. To each side of the roof are
two long passing wind braces which run from the eaves to the ridge.
