Farmhouse. Probably early C17 with earlier origins. Thick stone rubble walls,
rendered and painted. Slate roof with gable end on left and hipped end on right.
Lower slate roof to attached outbuilding on left with hipped end. Stone rubble end
stack on left and rear lateral stack on right, incorporated by later outshut to rear.
Plan: Three room and cross or through passage plan with lower end on left, heated by
end stack, hall on right heated by rear lateral stack and dairy to right, originally
partly built into the bank as the ground rises to right. Small outbuildings of circa
early C19 on lower left hand end and outshut across rear.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window front. Entrance to left of centre.
C20 part glazed door with slate hipped hood. Flanked by two C20 2-light casements
with part glazed C20 door to right. Four C20 windows on first floor.
Interior: Partition on lower side of passage and partition between hall and dairy
removed. Floor joists in left hand room replaced in C20. Granite hollow chamfered
surround to large kitchen fireplace heating left hand room with putative date and
initials '1382 R' incised across lintel. Cloam oven (Fishley). The hall fireplace
has been blocked but appears to be very large and the owner describes the original
which was partly uncovered during work to the house, as being arched with a very
large keyblock.
