Farmhouse. C17, remodelled circa 1740, extended in the C18 and early-mid C19.
Granite rubble with granite dressings including some reused C17 chamfered masonry.
Grouted scantle slate roofs with gable ends except for dairy which has hipped end.
Dressed granite stacks over the gable ends.
Plan: Irregular plan. Original 2-room-plan house at the front (now 1 room) with
probably C18 wide 1-room plan wing at right angles behind the left-hand room, with
axial passage leading to stair in front; a C20 outshut behind the right-hand room; a
diary adjoining the rear right-hand corner of the rear wing and a flower-bunching
room adjoining rear left-hand corner of dairy. Original house has oven in
C18 rebuilt fireplace in left-hand room and probably C17 parlour fireplace in right-
hand room.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south-front with approximately
central doorway. Eaves heightened circa early C19, openings probably remodelled at
the same time. The ground floor openings incorporate C17 chamfered masonry. Doorway
has chamfered jambs and lintel. The right-hand jamb also has a chamfer to its right-
hand side (possibly a former fireplace lintel where it adjoined a window bay) 4-panel
door, C20 16-pane horned sashes.
Left-hand wall of rear wing has wide window opening to ground floor with slightly
cambered granite arch with projecting keystones.
Interior: Large granite fireplaces: a C17 hollow-chamfered parlour fireplace; a C18
remodelled fireplace in the left-hand room with domed oven and chamfered lintel, and
an enormous fireplace of uncertain date in the rear wing. Other features include a
2-panel door and a resited C18 arch carried on consoles.
