Farmhouse. Probably late C18, remodelled in circa early C19, with alterations of mid
C19 and few later alterations. Slatestone and granite rubble with brick dressings;
partly slate-hung. Slate roof with crested ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end
stack to right and axial stack to left with brick shafts.
Plan: 2-room plan, with integral outshut of one storey and loft to rear. Central
entrance to passage with principal room to front right and left. Kitchen to rear
right, heated from a second stack to rear right. Stair to rear centre and dairy to
rear left. Circa early C19, a one-room plan lean-to was added at the left end, later
raised in height.
Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front. Buttress and one bay to left.
Central half-glazed C19 door, C19 16-pane sash with brick segmental arch and keystone
to right and left. First floor has three C19 12-pane sashes with brick segmental
arches and keystones. Bay to left has C20 French window at ground floor and 16-pane
sash at first floor. At the left end, the upper part of the gable end is in brick.
At the right end the upper level is slate-hung. At the rear there is a door into the
dairy and a doorway into the end bay to right. Random fenestration with 2 and 3-
light casements and one 16-pane sash lighting the stair.
Interior: The wall has been removed between the passage and the room to front right.
Winder stair to rear centre. Kitchen has fireplace with clambered timber lintel and
cloam oven with cast iron door. The dairy has slate paving.
