Farmhouse. Late C16/early Cl7, altered and extended to east C19. Farmbuildings,
late C18/early C19. Farmhouse. Rendered rubble; double Roman tiled roof with
coped raised verges. Gabled vernacular farmhouse, of asymmetrical L-plan.
South elevation: 2 storeys and attic in gabled section to left, which has a
4-light casement window on the ground floor, a 3-light cross window on the first
and a single light in the attic, all with hollow chamfered mullions and
surrounds. Central 2 storey projecting gabled porch: 3-light casement window
on first floor with hollow chamfered mullions and casement stays; outer doorway
has ogee/hollow moulded surround and depressed arch head; inner plank door with
chamfered surround and 4-centred head. To the right and setback is a C19 wing:
2 storeys; 2 segmental headed casement windows and plank door to left; at the
south east a single storey service wing leads to a kitchen/bakehouse which is
rubble, single storey and with a brick stack on the west gable. A 2 storey stair
turret with a hipped stone slate roof projects on the west elevation, and beyond
is a 2 storey and attic north wing with a 3-light cross window on the first
floor. Interior: ground floor, south west room is panelled with a decorative
overmantel and has a framed ceiling with ogee/ovolo moulded beams; the north
west room a framed ceiling with beams which have a double ovolo moulding and
converging stops. The farm buildings are attached to the east end of the house
and consist of a barn, a sheltershed, stables and a cartshed, forming 3 sides of
a yard. All the buildings are rubble with double Roman tiled roofs. The barn
has a gabled porch and is probably of 5 bays. To the north, projecting from the
barn, is a 3 bay stable with a tie and collar beam roof. East from the stable
is a 6 bay sheltershed and at its east end a cartshed with a hipped roof returns.
