House. C16 early C17 core with late C17 alterations and C20 addition at rear.
Whitewashed, rendered slatestone rubble with rag slate roof. Left gable end
unrendered. Right gable end whitewashed brick chimney. Left gable end brick
chimney. Evidence for 2-bay open hall plan with chambering over to left and
probably to right. Right gable end stack probably later C17 addition. Range
extended at right gable end under lower roof into north end of outbuilding
adjoining at right gable end at south-east; north part of outbuilding now
incorporated into house with internal lateral stack and tall chimney. 2-storey C20
rear addition probably remodelling of earlier rear outshut. 2-storey, 3-window
south front with off-centre gabled, enclosed porch with slate roof. Round-headed,
chamfered, granite inner doorway. Windows renewed casements, length of slate sills
suggests altered openings. Extension at right gable end has first-floor 4-pane
bulls eye opening. Chamfered principals with curved feet in upstairs rooms.
Chamfers continued on cambered collars in roof space, smoke-blackening visible on 2
trusses. Whitewashed cob outbuilding with slate roof hipped at south gable end has
C20 lean-to under galvanized iron roof. Granite coping built into left-hand gable
end and high quality of roof suggest that present building was part of a larger
complex.
