Farmhouse. Circa mid C18, with addition of late C18 - early C19; alterations of
later C19 and few later alterations. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings and
quoins to front. Rear painted. The roof is 2-span; the front range is half-hipped
in slurried slate with ridge tiles, and end stacks with brick shafts and cornices.
The rear range is in slate, with ridge tiles and gable ends, gable end stack to left
with brick shaft.
Plan: 2-room plan with central entrance to passage; each room of equal size and
heated from a gable end stack. Circa late C18 - early C19, a parallel rear range was
added, with kitchen to left, heated from a gable end stack and unheated dairy to
right; stair between the two rear rooms.
Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front. First floor has 3 late C19 4-pane
sashes. Ground floor has central C20 half-glazed door with granite voussoirs and
keystone. Early C19 16-pane sash to right and left with granite voussoirs and
keystones. The right end has external stack to the front range. The left end has
C20 window at ground floor to left; the stack rebuilt in C20. At the rear, there is
a C19 12-pane sash with cambered brick arch at ground and first floor to right. 12-
pane sash at ground floor to centre, lighting the stair. Plank door with glazed
panel in moulded frame and C19 2-light 6-pane casement to the dairy.
Interior: In the rear range there is a dog-leg stair with columnar newels and stick
balusters. 6-panelled door to the kitchen. The dairy has slate floor and slate
shelves, C19 beams and 2-panelled door. At first floor there are 2-panelled doors to
all rooms.
