II
Road Bridge probably circa 1770 by James Brindley for the Duke of
Bridgewater, carrying drive from Walton Lea Road across the
Bridgewater Canal to Walton Hall Park. Stone-dressed brown brick.
Deep segmental arch with raised stone band around brick voussoirs.
Quadrant abutments with rounded flush copings of stone and square
stone-coped end-piers. The parapets, proabably circa 1838, have
rectangular recessed panels. Rubbing-post of oak for towropes at west
corner of south abutment.
