Schoolmaster's House

Schoolhouse and schoolmaster's house circa 1860 built at expense of
Mrs Thomas Ryle Daintry (of Macclesfield family of pioneer
industrialists and bankers). Buff gritstone with many-gabled banded
grey tile roofs of steep pitch. The schoolhouse is a hall of 4 bays
with arched doorway (boarded double doors) in gabled porch; mullioned
and transomed windows to front, Geometrical arched window in end gable
to left; buttresses; coped gables with shaped kneelers, belfry spire
(bell openings now blocked) on ridge. The schoolmaster's house,
linked by pentice porch and part of the same composition, is of 2
storeys and irregular plan.
