Large house. C16, altered C17 and late C20; extended early C19. Older part:
timber frame encased, in brick, old tile gabled roof. Centre part 2 framed bays
with a crosswing on each end of 2 framed bays. 2 storeys and attics. Brick
string at first floor. 3 bay front with one-bay projecting gable each end with
moulded and offset brick verges. 3-light leaded casement windows with rendered
mullions and dressings, originally moulded brick. Hoodmoulds over ground- and
first-floor windows. C20 enclosed gabled porch entrance with false timbers and
plank door. Rear similar but irregular; gables flush with centre part.
Extension: adjoining older part with 2-storey link. Brick, hipped slate roof.
Rectangular plan. 2 storeys. 4 chimneys with offset heads and clay pots, 2
rendered. Wide wooden eaves with paired shaped brackets. Sash windows, most
with glazing bars. South front: symmetrical, 3 bays. Centre section recessed.
Rendered square bay window on ground floor, left hand, added, with fluted Ionic
pilasters, dentilled and moulded cornice to plain parapet. C20 French casement
doors in centre section, semi-circular overlight with radiating bars. C20
conservatory in front of centre and right hand bays; all glazed with
half-hipped roof and brick plinth. West front: symmetrical. 3 bays. Centre
projecting. Ground floor has 3 French casements to garden, with semi-circular
fanlights with radiating glazing bars. the centre bay, fluted pilasters and a
flat hood on shaped brackets. The 2 outer bays have Corinthian pilasters and
segmental pediments.
