and flanking walls
at Chevet Gates
GV II
Gates, gate piers and flanking walls to Chevet Hall (demolished). Ashlar and
cast-iron. 8 stone piers diminishing in height to outer edges have rusticated
stonework, cornices and caps. Those either side of gates have bases for
sculpture (of dogs, removed). Pair of gates with circular motif dog rails and
some spiked finials. Overthrow has carriage lamp. Segmental bay either side
with similar railings and smaller gates with oval and St. Andrew's cross motif.
Outer 2 piers have ashlar wall with chamfered coping.
