Former country house now club. Late C18 for John Sholefield; altered. Brick
(rear and sides rendered). Stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 5-bay front with
later 3-bay wing at rear. The front is symmetrical the centre 3 bays with
shallow pediment. Central door, in glass porch, has moulded architrave.
Ground-floor flat-arched sash windows of 6 over 9 panes. Band steps down
under window to form sills. 12-pane flat-arched sashes to 1st floor with
raised sills. Moulded eaves cornice. The pediment is supported on 2 small
consoles. Hipped roof. Two later ventilators on the ridge. Round-arched
stair window with glazing bars to rear. Additions to left and right returns
not of special interest.
