House, part of group. Late C18. Brick with stone quoins. Stone slate roof with gable copings on cut kneelers. Two storeys. Three-bay facade with central door. One thee-light window to each side with wider centre light. To first floor two single sashes with glazing bars. Outshut to rear. Later two-storey brick addition to rear, left.
REASONS FOR DESIGNTATION
The farmhouse at Bottoms Farm, Dewsbury, is designated at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* It is of late C18 date, a period when English agriculture was the most advanced in the world
* It is constructed primarily of brick, which is unusual for this region, and retains a number of original features, including stone quoins and sash windows with glazing bars
