Not shown on Senior's Map of Almondbury Parish 1634. But earliest part (an
extension immediately north of the house) is cruck-framed, so presumably no
later than C17; hammer-dressed stone walls, probably C19. 2 bays. Truss has
butt purlins, ridge notched into blades, collar and tenons below it apparently
for a second collar. Cellar below, and until recently there was a chimney
on east side, so this was presumably the original dwelling.
North of this is a garage extension, which was also once a dwelling. C18.
Hammer-dressed stone. Pitched stone slate roof. 2 storeys. Modern garage
doors on ground floor. Two 2-light stone mullioned windows on 1st floor (2
lights blocked). Inside is a chimneybreast with moulded stone C18 mantel shelf
about 5 ft up. West of these, and in axis with the house is the principal
barn. C18, possibly earlier. Hammer-dressed stone. Pitched stone slate roof.
Planked barn doors. Aisled king post trusses, arch-braced, and braced to the
aisle plate.
