Appleyard Farm

II

2-bay single aisled barn of late C17 date, fronting main road. Hammer-dressed
stone with large quoins and coped gable with moulded kneeler, stone slate roof.
Gable is highly decorative with square vents. 9 such set at an angle form
large diamond, a cavetto moulded string course runs round the building. The
barn is a rare survival amidst urban housing its adjacent farmhouse being now
demolished.
