Bronze statue of soldier in First World War trenchkit by F. W. Doyle Jones
c.1922. Stands on white granite plinth approached by 3 steps. Inscribed on
front 'ERECTED TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN OF ELLAND WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE' also added names
of 1939 - 1945 victims. A remarkably good statue imaginatively sited
overlooking the Calder Valley below Hullen Edge.
