House in 2 occupations. Mid to late C17. Cross-wing with late C18 alterations
to hall range. Thin coursed hammer-dressed stone, rendered to sides and rear,
stone slate roof. Hall and cross-wing plan. 2 storeys with single storey
outshut to rear of hall range. 2 room south front of 2 bays. 1st bay is
remainder of hall range of late C18 possibly replacing earlier timbered hall to
which was added a cross-wing in C17. To this bay are flat faced mullioned
windows of 5 lights to each floor, the centre light of which is slightly wider
than others. Tall paired doorways with composite jambs abut cross-wing with
2-light window over. 2nd bay forms cross-wing which projects. Return wall has
small chamfered window (solid). Coped gable with kneelers and double chamfered
mullioned and transomed windows of 12 lights to ground floor (having lost
transoms, now forming 3 large windows) and 10 lights to 1st floor. Right hand
return wall has tall lateral stack with offsets and double chamfered mullioned
windows with hoodmoulds of 6 lights with 5 lights over, flanked by 2-light
windows to each floor. Rear has coped gables, kneelers and gable stack. Cat
