SOUTHFIELD LANE BD7
Main block to Southfield Junior Immigrant Education Centre
II
Dated 1859 and originally associated with the adjacent former chapel. Gothicised one-storey symmetrical design with centre and flanking breaks, one incorporating the master's house. Sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. Weathered coping to plinth and weathered moulded eaves with carved leaf stops. Welsh shaped and graded slates to steep pitched roof. Saddlestones. Gables set above two light mullioned windows with ogee tracery. The centre break is buttressed and has a truncated coped gable. The master's house has a canted mullioned bay window. Probably the first "Gothic Revival", as opposed to Jacobeathan, school design in Bradford, Italianate being then the predominant style.
