House. Initialled and dated " ESC " (Clarkson family);
1670
substantially rebuilt c1970. Rubble brought to course, dressed
quoins, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. End lobby-entry plan, now
of 3 cells with an outshut and stair-turret to rear. 3 bays of
chamfered-mullioned multi-light windows all c1970. Doorway to
right-hand end has basket-arched doorway retaining original date
inscription set in a shield, over which is small chamfered light
with arched head. 3 ridge stacks. Rear has chamfered doorway set
in outshut. Set in angle of house and outshut is a 2-storey stair
tower circular on plan with 2 chamfered lights.
Interior: Housebody has large stack and wide segmental-arched fireplace
with skewbacks and broad chamfered surround. Lobby lit internally
by narrow chamfered light. Stop-chamfered spine beam and floor joists.
Stone steps of spiral staircase renewed.
