8/92 The Manor House
GV II
House. Late C16 or early C17 with outshut to rear, initialled and
dated " RSM " to which was added a 2-storey wing. Hammer-dressed
1774
stone, dressed quoins, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 3-room plan.
South front has 3 large C19 chamfered mullioned windows the centre
light sashed. C18 doorway with chamfered surround. Original doorway
to right-hand end has depressed Tudor arch with sunken spandrels and
chamfered surround. 1st floor has C18 flat-faced mullioned windows
with recessed mullions of 3, 3, 2 and 2 lights. External stack with
offsets, to left. 2 ridge stacks. Rear has single-storey outshut
with 3-light chamfered mullioned window to left of doorway with composite
jambs, dated lintel and chamfered surround. C19 wing at right angles
has quoins, gable stack and 2-light flat-faced mullioned window in east
side wall. Ridge stack to outshut.
Interior: housebody has C18 segmental-arched fireplace with joggled
skewbacks and cyma-moulded surround replacing firehood; scarf-jointed
spine beams; stop-chamfered joists. Parlour has original fireplace
with Tudor arch and chamfered surround with broach stop. Board and
muntin panelling. Fireplace to parlour chamber has chamfered surround.
King-post roof with 'A' struts, also arch-braced truss.
