Houses, now one dwelling. C16 - early C17, C19 alterations and additions.
Deeply coursed rough ashlar gritstone, later work more thinly coursed rubble.
Stone slate roof. 2-room plan with later block attached to front left.
2-storeys, 2 windows to first floor. Older part to right : C20 part-glazed
door in deeply chamfered quoined surround with Tudor-arched lintel. To left
a blocked 3-light window in moulded surround with recessed cavetto-moulded
mullions, small 2-light window beneath eaves with similar surround, no mullion,
C20 casement. To left altered C19 openings and additions. Ashlar end stacks,
left stack corniced. Right return : blocked 4-light ground floor window as
front. Part-blocked first floor window of 3 round-headed lights with cavetto
moulded mullions and sunk spandrels. Regarded as being a vestige of
Bolsterstone Castle.
