2 cottages now one. Dated 1876. For the St. Leger estate of Park Hill.
Snecked, dressed limestone; interlocking pantile roof. L-shaped plan in Cottage
Orne style; later additions to rear. Roadside front: 1 storey with attics;
2 : 1 bays, gabled bay on right breaks forward. quoins. Chamfered mullioned
windows with casements having lozenge-shaped panels and diagonal glazing bars
in the corners. Doorway between bays 1 and 2 has panelled door in double-chamfered
surround under bracketed, catslide-roofed canopy; 3-light window on left, 2-light
window on right; 2-light roof dormers with timbered gables. Gabled bay 3 has
single-light windows flanking a recessed date plaque with St. Leger initials;
3-light attic window beneath timbered upper gable. Roof has 1/2-hipped left end with
stack having ashlar band and coping linked by strips; matching ridge stack at
junction with bay 3. Right return: 3 bays as front. Bay 2 has 2-light window,
replacing doorway, under canopy; gabled full-dormer on right, matching end stack
on right. Style matches No 79 situated opposite (q.v.).
