8/53 Old Hall Cottage
GV II
Farmhouse. Late C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Slobbered squared rubble,
stone dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, scattered fenestration. C20
entrance left of centre has slate hood; c1980 door. Right-hand entrance has
chamfered surround and moulded lintel; c1980 door. 3 ground floor windows; left-hand
former 4-light double chamfered mullioned, with only central mullion remaining,
right-hand formerly 8 light but 4 right-hand lights now blocked and mullions
in left hand half now missing; hoodmoulds, that to right continuing across original
extent of window; small chamfered window to left of left-hand entrance. 3 late
C19 windows on upper floor, plain surrounds and sashes with glazing bars. Projecting
left-hand gable end and central ridge stacks.
Interior: inglenook with basket arched hand of 14 voussoirs; right-hand chamfered
entrance with segmental arch.
