SD 87 NE HALTON GILL HALTON GILL

5/79 Low House

House. Dated 1626, probably for Martin Knowles with probably C19 addition
and alterations. Coursed rubble, graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2
bays, with added bay to left. Quoins. C20 board door far right in chamfered
surround; stone plaque above with recessed panel and raised lettering;
"1626 MK". Original range has flat-faced mullion windows of 3 lights left
of door and two of 2 lights to first floor; a square window with C20 frame
far left, ground floor. Added bay: C20 glazed door, plain lintel; square
window with C20 frame above. Ridge stack between original and added bay
and another to left of centre of original range. Right return: 4 rows of
pigeon holes to gable. Interior not inspected at resurvey.
