Memorial cairn, 1937. Mortared sandstone rubble, rectangular in section. Set into
this is a tablet of black stone recording the death on 15 May 1937 of Philip Snowden,
first Viscount Snowden of Ickornshaw, the Statesman and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Snowden was born in Middleton and took his title from Ickornshaw, both places in the
parish.
