Farmhouse. Dated 1640. For George Fryer. Rubble, stone slate roof. T-
shaped plan, 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows, with rear stair turret.
Rough quoins. On ground floor between third and fourth first-floor windows,
part-glazed board door in straight-headed quoined chamfered surround with
panel above inscribed "GFC 1640" with decorative motifs. Blocked doorway
between first and second bays. Window surrounds have mason's marks. In
second bay, fire windows: chamfered straight-headed on ground floor;
chamfered round-headed with wooden bar on first floor. Double-chamfered
mullion windows elsewhere, of 3 lights except for 4 lights in third bay on
ground floor, and with continuous ground-floor dripmould, stepped up over
doorway. Stacks at ends and to ridge over second bay. Rear: chamfered
straight-headed single-light window in stair turret. Left return of stair
turret angled across to rear wall of house at first-floor level and contains
blocked matching window. House, to left: 2-light chamfered mullion window
on ground floor; single light on first floor. Interior: in ground-floor
room to left of door, large fireplace with chamfered ashlar jambs with
mason's marks supporting curved timber beam, set within earlier chamfered
jambs, and to its right, round-arched chamfered doorway giving access to
stone spiral stair in turret.
