10/26 Blue Lion Stables
GV II
Stables. Early C19. Coursed rubble, stone slate roof. 3 first-floor
windows. Central carriage entrance with ashlar quoined jambs, small imposts
and segmental arch with springers, voussoirs with herring-bone tooling in
draughted margins and keystone. Other openings have ashlar sills and
lintels. 2 board doors under overlights. 3 ground-floor windows,
2 being 4-pane side-sliding sashes, all others part-glazed, part-shuttered.
Behind, single-storey stables and coach-house, with inscription on lintel
'S. C. L. 1900', referring to Samuel Cunliffe Lister, erstwhile owner of the
village. Included for group value.
