House: dated 1760 on rainhead but probably the fabric and all details
early-mid C19. Flemish bond orange brick with yellow headers, stone
dressings. Hipped Welsh slate roof and 2 brick chimneys. Hipped
Welsh slate roof and 2 brick chimneys. Square in plan. 2-storey
symmetrical 3-bay east front. Stone plinth, moulded stone cornice and
a stone blocking course. End bays have 20-pane sashes, the uppermost
panes with cusped pointed tracery. These have flat-wedged stone heads
with scalloped soffits. Central bay has an added detached wooden
porch on fluted piers, with a triglyph frieze and a coffered ceiling.
Doorcase with fluted columns and twisted capitals. Rectangular
fanlight with intersecting tracery. Similar treatment to windows on
south and north fronts where 2 are false.
Interior: Double-pile plan. 6 recessed-panelled softwood doors in
panelled reveals throughout and with moulded architraves with lions
heads in the corners. Archway over passage has moulded pilasters and
Greek key design in the archivolt, continued in the ceiling cornice.
Gothic style staircase with cusped headed iron panel balusters and
mahogany handrail. Room to left has cornice and border of vines, and
a central roundel with a border of roses. Fireplace has clumsy
shouldered architrave. Room to right has a mantel on carved consoles.
