5/25 Eastwood Manor Farm Steading

Steading. 1858-60. Robert Smith for William Taylor. Dressed, squared and
coursed limestone to main facade, coarser squared stone to side walls.
Rusticated ashlar quoins, ashlar cornices and copings, rubbed brick voussoirs to
arched entrances. Corrugated iron and translucent plastic roofing, some glazing.
1 1/4 acre area containing 2 internal courts, all roofed. Grand 5 bay composition
to main facade. Centrepiece has projecting double steps with segmental arched
recess and quatrefoil motifs set in lozenge surrounds. Central doorway at top of
steps, plank door. 2 upper openings either side of lozenge-quatrefoil opening.
Side walls slope up to a series of 4 crow steps then gable with relieving arch and
keyed oculus. Weather vane on apex. Sections flanking centrepiece are set on
3 bay segmental headed arcades and lit above by glazed arched gables like train
sheds. End bays have 2 cambered head openings, lozenge-quatrefoils and gables head.openings,
with corn sheaf finials. 2 leaf plank doors throughout. Interior. Cast iron
pillars support brick walls with cast iron open rafter wagon roof. Inspection
galleries on 4 sides, cast iron fountain on stone plinth to left hand court.
