ST 66 SE MARKSBURY C.P. STANTON PRIOR

2/23 The Old Rectory

G.V. II

House. Late C18, possibly earlier origins, mid-C19 extension. Rubble with
freestone dressings, ashlar, slate mansard roof with raised, coped verges.
2 storeys and attic, 4 windows, sashes at first floor and within lean-to ground
floor extension which also has sashes, in shallow recessed arches as are doors,
2 hipped dormers; projecting left wing has 2 storeys, 3 windows, sashes at first
floor, blocked and altered below; rear elevation has 4 windows plus 2 in lower
hipped wing to right, mansard visible with 4 hipped dormers, remainder hidden
behind L-plan mid-C19 wing with tripartite French windows below and similar sashes
above, plain parapet, wing to right has 16-pane sashes and one C20 casement.
