Farmhouse. C15, altered early C17 and C18. Rendered; pantile roof;
rendered stacks. L-plan farmhouse, formerly a late mediaeval house of three
rooms and a cross passage. 2 storeys and attics in catslide dormers. 2 bays:
glazing bar sash windows on ground floor and 2-light casements above. Central
gabled porch; studded plank door, strap hinges with fleur-de-lys ends, ovolo
moulded surround. Single bay lean-to at left; blocked pointed doorway is now
covered by render; at the rear of the lean-to the opposite doorway is visible
and it has a 2-centred, hollow chamfered, freestone surround. The south-east
elevation has 3-light casement windows in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds.
In the re-entrant angle with the rear wing is a gabled stair tower with 2-light
casement windows; later lean-to addition. Interior. Ovolo moulded beams with
run-out stops. The ground floor, left room (the hall) has a fine panelled and
framed ceiling with bold ovolo-moulded main beams and chamfered joists. Rear
newel stair with jointed newel post. First floor (east) room has an ashlar
fireplace with a 4-centred head and an ovolo moulded surround; the initials RA/M
and IA/M are carved on shields in the spandrels. First floor room in the wing
has a fireplace with a depressed ovolo moulded lintel on rebuilt jambs. Other
plank doors in ovolo moulded and chamfered surrounds.
