Bank of 12 limekilns. 1844-48, established by Messrs. Long Keeling and Nowell.
Coursed rubble bank of kilns approximately 20 feet high and 100 feet long. The
eyes of the kilns are approximately 5-6 feet high and the four towards the east
end have doors; round arched heads with voussoirs. The bank of kilns was
connected to a nearby quarry by means of a tramway which ran along the top of the
bank. Thought to be the longest bank of limekilns in Southern England
(D. Pollard and E.J. Taylor, personal communication).
