STATION ROAD
(North side)
No. 63 (Sheen Cottage)
GV
II
Cottage. C18. Timber framed, plaster rendered and long straw thatch with
grey brick end stack of single flue. Two bays adjoining the road (similar to
no. 20 Rose Lane, Melbourn). One storey and attic. One dormer with window
incorporating an C18-C19 iron casement. At ground floor a three light
casement with narrow hood and boarded shutter. Doorway in moulded architrave
with boarded door, early C19, and narrow hood on cut brackets. Mid C20 brick
additions at the rear. Adjoining on the north end was a threshing barn, now
demolished, and it is possible that the cottage was converted from part of
the barn.
