Farmhouse. Late C15 or early C16 with late C16,C18 and C19 modifications and
additions. Timber-framed and plastered, plain tiled roofs. Late C16 square
planned red brick ridge stack with grouped shafts to left hand and gable end
stack with two diagonal shafts to right hand. Two storeys with attic and
semi basement. Original five bay long jetty building altered in late C16 to
present plan of cross wing to left hand with two storey porch and lobby
entry. Jetty with curved brackets at each of three bays with large C15
roll-moulded mullioned and transomed oriel window to right hand of
six-panelled door. First floor C15 oriel window with brackets and cill
possible replacements of an original moulded cill. Boarded door to porch
with sealed window above and in gable of cross wing. Interior: C15
hollow-chamfered cross beams and cambered tie beams with deeply chamfered
crown post braced to collar purlin and collar. Late C16 inserted doorways,
attic floor with wave-moulded ceiling beam, clunch fire places with four
centred arches partly sealed by inserted C19 hearths. Early C17 panelling in
ground floor room.
