House, early C17, on or near to the site of a manor house of the
Knights Templar, with extensive later C17, C18 and C19
alterations. Timber framed, brick and plaster rendered with
roofs of slate. Tall rectangular C18 chimney stacks and one
original early C17 grey gault brick ridge stack of six grouped
shafts. Principal front is early C19 timber framed and plaster
rendered casing to earlier house. Three storeys including a
smaller attic storey, with parapet and main cornice. Range of
five flush frame hung sashes of fifteen panes each, with smaller
similar windows to attic storey. Ground floor windows on either
side of contemporary, rendered porch with flat roof and
segmental arches to three sides. To the left hand is a brick
extension, also early C19, painted with low pitch slate roof.
Also three storeys, parapetted, with two recessed hung sashes of
twelve panes each to each storey. The attic storey windows are
smaller. The garden elevation, North East end, is early C17,
extended late in C17. Timber framing, concealed by plaster
render. Two storeys and attics. Two steeply pitched gables
with C19, two storey canted bays with hung sashes flank doorway
with early C19 doorcase. Access to the interior was refused,
but said to contain early C17 panelling. The other details are
mostly late C18 or early C19 including an open-string staircase.
