House. 1848 for J.J. Holme, a surgeon. Timber-framed with plastered margins
to panels of roughcast render. Low pitched slate roofs. Two internal gault
brick stacks. Two storeys; double pile plan. Symmetrical main facade with
main entrance approached by stone steps. Double half-glazed doors with
pilastered doorcase and flat canopy with shaped brackets. Two ground floor
and two first floor twelve-paned flush-framed hung-sash windows. The house
was owned by the antiquarian Dr W.M. Palmer (d.1939). It stands on the site
formerly owned by the Richmonds, a tanning family.
