House, formerly a farmhouse. C17 with C19 extensions and
alterations. Timber framed and plastered with gault brick
casing and walls, and painted brick. Plain tile roofs. Two
storeys and attics, two storeys and single storey bakehouse.
Hall and cross-wing plan with later C17 three unit kitchen
range, to rear of west cross-wing, extended in early C19 as a
bakehouse with tumbled parapet gable and stack. In angle of
kitchen range and main range an addition c.1840, possibly
replacing C17 stair turret. Main entrance in cross-passage
position with two-storey porch partly rebuilt in late C19 and
possibly imported. Lean to conservatory to rear of main range
and building reroofed late C19. South facing elevation; gabled
two storey porch with exposed timber frame enriched with carved
posts and key block to four-centred arch, side lights with
turned balusters. One horizontal sliding sash attic window,
three first floor and three ground floor flush-framed
twelve-paned hung sash windows. Two C19 gault brick stacks with
arcaded panels possibly replacing similar late C17 red brick
stacks. Two rear stacks. Interior. Boxed ceiling beams, and
stop-chamfered beams and joists. Late C17 geometric patterned
floor tiles, reused C17 carved panels as over mantel to hall
chimney piece said to be part of a reredos from the church.
