Farmhouse, c1830, for Henry King probably to replace an earlier
farmhouse on or near the site. Grey brick with a low pitch
slate roof with deep boarded eaves and ridge stacks. In late
Georgian villa style, double fronted and double pile plan. Two
storeys and attics. Two dormers. Gauged brick arches to three
recessed hung sashes of sixteen panes each. Three steps up to
central, Tuscan portico of stone, added later and partly
obscuring the double recessed round headed doorway. Six
panelled door with round headed fanlight. At the rear and to
the side of the house is a kitchen wing also of grey brick but
the inside shows evidence of an earlier building of clunch. At
the rear and forming part of the grey brick boundary wall is a
clairvoyee of wrought iron railings, in line with the rear
doorway and morning-room window. Inside the house has a paved
hall and a cut string principal staircase with curtail, scrolled
ends, square balusters and a mahogany rail. There are opposing
front and rear entries. Two ground floor rooms have marble
fireplaces and plaster cornice mouldings, all contemporary with
the house.
