House. Early-mid C16 cross wing to right, with later C16 jettied addition
of 2 bays, and 2 further bays, also C16 but of different build, at left
end. Timber framed with large curved braces and brick and plaster infill,
most infill whitewashed. Old tile roof, rebuilt brick chimney between
jettied bays. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Left bays have irregular C20 leaded
casements, old 3-light leaded casement to ground floor right, and C20
board door to centre. Centre bays have upper storey jettied to front,
and old leaded casements,probably C18 - early C19, the ground floor
left with board shutters. Upper right window has flanking original
3-light windows with finely moulded mullions, the left with 2 leaded
lights, the other lights blocked. Upper window in left bay is C20.
Flush-panelled door to right. Cross wing to right is slightly lower and is
half-hipped to front. Old 3-light leaded casement to first floor, C20
French doors and flanking single lights below. Rear has lean-to
extensions, central gabled stair turret, and other C20 extensions. Interior:
left bays have heavy rough timbers with cambered tie beams. Jettied part
has stop-chamfered spine beam in left bay, ovolo moulded spine with bar
stops in right bay, and stop-chamfered joists. Original first floor
window with moulded mullions in rear wall. Right wing has arched wind-
braces to front bay and remains of substantial brace, now altered, in cross
wall.
