II
Early C17 timber-framed farmhouse with C18 and C19 additions. Letter-L plan,
2 storeys. Colourwashed flint or brick, except jettied 1st floor to east range
which has red brick nogging, plastered infill to its return elevation. Gable
elevation with splayed gabled oriel on 2 brackets. Modern centre door and windows
below. Lean-to in right angle. Casements to west wing, horizontal sliding sashes
to 1st floor, dentil eaves. Modern one storey,west addition. At east end is large
original stack of flint and brick with 3 hexagonal shafts which have ovolo moulded
caps and bases 2 storey addition to east. Two panelled stacks to early range.
Interior has stone fireplace to 1st floor with 4-centred head and pediment over.
Chamfered and stopped ceiling beam. RCHM I 17 MON.4
