House. C16, timber framed and rough rendered with long wall jetty to front
and single storey extension to left. Red plain tiled hipped roof, also hipped
to left extension. 2 storeys. 3 window range of C19 3 light casements.
Central, red tiled porch on timber supports. Vertical boarded door with light.
One window and boarded door to extension. Internal details: original red brick
fireplace. Stop chamfered beams throughout. C18 panelling in drawing room,
bedroom and landing with moulded ceiling coving. Sleeping cupboard in drawing
room. Brick floors. Good, Victorian grates. Original hinges to several doors.
Historical articles in Essex Countryside, July 1973 and January 1982, giving
details of occupants from 1572. At one time a rectory.
