Hall house, C15, altered in C16, extended in C17/18 and C20. Timber framed,
plastered and weatherboarded with exposing framing at front only, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 2 bay hall aligned approximately E-W, with integral
service end at E, C15 or earlier. Inserted chimney stack in E bay of hall,
leaving original cross-entry unobstructed, C16. Crosswing at W end, C17 or
C18. Rear stair extension, C20. Linked in C20 with separate bakehouse/dairy at
rear built in red brick, Flemish bond, with pyramidal roof of handmade red clay
tiles. External chimney stacks at E and W ends, small C20 extension to E of
stack. Single storey with attics. Plain door with glass pane in tiled gabled
porch, 3 casement windows, 4 tiled gabled dormers with casement windows, all -
C20. Roof half-hipped. Framing partly exposed internally. Jowled wallposts,
cambered central tiebeam in hall, roof originally of crownpost construction but
crownposts missing. Inserted floor in hall has chamfered axial beam and joists,
all with step stops. RCHM 11.
