Stocks, 27m west of War Memorial, in Recreation Ground

Stocks: date unknown. Oak, set on new oak posts in concrete base,
under tiled roof. Upper and lower sections consist each of two
boards, edge jointed: holes for two pairs of legs. Boards
surrounded on outer edge by wrought iron strap, hinged one end,
clasp over eye at other. About 1.7m long. Towards one end a
square post bolted to upper boards, with iron strake nailed back
and front, either side a small eye: said to be whipping post.
Moved from nearer village centre about 1970, from when date
concrete base and sheltering structure.
