House. Late C16 and C18, extended in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. Main range of 2 bays facing S, of which the left
bay is late C16 and the right bay C18, externally undifferentiated. C20 stack
at left end, C18 stack in right gable end. C19 one-bay extension to rear of
right bay. C20 single-storey extension to left rear. 2 storeys. On each
floor, C20 casement in left bay, C18/early C19 sash of 16 lights in right bay.
E elevation, 2-window range of C20 casements, C20 door, and another C20 door in
the stack. The left bay has jowled posts, close studding, a face-halved and
bladed scarf in the front wallplate, and clasped purlin roof with arched wind
bracing. Diamond mortices for an unglazed window in right end, now enclosed by
C18 extension. A photograph taken c.1900 shows this building as part of a range
of cottages extending to the E, the others since demolished.
