House. C15, altered in C16 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay hall facing N, with late C16 external stack at
right end, and garage extension beyond, roofed with red clay 'Roman'tiles.
3-bay crosswing to left with internal stack. 2 storeys. N elevation, 3-window
range of C20 casements. The crosswing is jettied to the front, with one plain
brace in situ. Below the jetty are the sill and head of a former oriel window,
both moulded, of the late C16, with mortices for moulded mullions and
intermediate saddle bars. The first collar and the end of the collar-purlin of
a crownpost roof project through the plaster of the crosswing. The original rear
elevation, facing S, now forms the entrance elevation, with a 3-window range of
C20 casements and a C20 half-glazed door with bracketed hood. The hall has a
late C16 inserted floor, with chamfered axial and transverse beams with lamb's
tongue stops, and a smoke-blackened roof originally of crownpost construction,
the crownpost and collar-purlin missing. The crosswing has hollow-chamfered
posts and girts with step stops; roof not inspected. RCHM 30.
